I am a technologist at heart, with a passion for writing code & books, and I live in Atlanta, Georgia. I had a Midwestern childhood in Southeast Ohio. Half of my childhood existed in the “analog 80s,” when the boombox was the technical marvel of envy, and the “tech 90s,” when consumer electronics started to boom, devices got smaller, CD players took over, and Internet access in your home was all the rage. You can find me online as either @ryanthomashuff or @NetworkNerd1337.

The first “computer” I remember having growing up? I distinctly remember a few. The Commodore 64 and the Altair 8800 — but we didn’t treat those as “computers” at my house, in the same sense of the word we use today. We had some games I recall (all I remember is Ghosts N’ Goblins and Hangman), and a 5-1/4 floppy for WordPerfect. A little later in the ’90s, the first computer we had in the house that we used as a “computer” was a Tandy 286. Once I was introduced to the x86 architecture, I discovered things like MS-DOS and GW-BASIC, and my obsession (passion?) for programming began.
My technology career has taken me into many corners of the technology world, some connected and others juxtaposed. I have learned many technologies that have given me the foundation to build a profound and diverse skill set and career.
I have substantial experience with digital and analog voice technologies, and small-medium and enterprise-sized routing and switching networks. I started my tech career in the programming space and am fluent in multiple programming languages (compiled and interpreted).
I have deep experience with Windows and Linux server/desktop administration, leading network operations center teams, and I have served in multiple roles in the VAR/consultant space as both an IC/engineer and later in pre-sales/sales.
I have a penchant for building and leading high-performance teams, that execute on ideas and transform projects into successful business outcomes.
Let me know how I can help you!
